The machine can effectively measure tool lengths to sub-micron levels of accuracy and repeatability, providing for simple and predictable tool blends with various cutting tools, spindle speeds and machining depths. Makino’s 45,000-rpm, HSK-E32 spindle—based upon its core-cooling, under-race and jacket spindle temperature control system—virtually eliminates thermal growth, deflection or vibration, even during long hours of high-speed machining.
To ensure microscopic blending and matching of surfaces machined with different tools, the iQ500 integrates the Makino Hybrid Automatic Tool Length Measurement System (HyATLM). A 40-tool magazine ensures a wide variety of tooling to address an extensive variety of projects.
The user-friendly, Makino Professional 6 control with Makino’s next-generation Super Geometric Intelligence (SGI.5) software—developed specifically for high-feedrate, tight-tolerance machining of complex, 3-D contoured shapes involving continuous tiny blocks of NC data—ensures production rates faster than standard CNC systems while maintaining unsurpassed accuracy.
